


Welcome to Oak Beam Cottage at Backbarrow. The cottage is situated within the Lake District National Park, our self catering cottage can accomadate up to four guests and its location is perfect for easy exploration of the southern lakes
Oak Beam Cottage was built around 1790. Part of a row of traditional cobble built Lakeland cottages, they were some of the first to be built in the village.
Low row was for workers who were employed at the nearby cotton mill which is now the White Water Hotel. The cottage is full of character with original oak beams, open fire and exposed stone wall.
The cottage has received many accolades from some of the top letting agencies in the country for it’s charm since 1997.
Only two miles from Lake Windermere and five miles from the market town of Ulverston it is the ideal base to discover the delights of the southern Lake District.
Close by is the Haverthwaite station where you can catch a Steam Train to Lakeside, then journey up Lake Windermere by Steamer and spend the day in the town.
